Alleged billionaire kidnapper Evans reportedly returns to Lagos to face arraignment in court

Alleged billionaire kidnapper Evans reportedly returns to Lagos to face arraignment in court

- With the conclusion of investigation into his alleged crime,
Evans, the reported billionaire kidnapper is to be arraigned in
Lagos

- A police source is quoted as saying Evans will be arraigned in
a court in Ikeja on Wednesday, August 30
- During the arraignment, Ademola Kazeem, the Attorney-General
of Lagos state, is to lead the prosecution
Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, better known as Evans the
alleged billionaire kidnapper, is to make his first appearance,
many weeks after his arrest, in a Lagos court.
Evans is to appear on Wednesday, August 30 before the Ikeja
Division of the Lagos State High Court, according to a report by
Premium Times.
The report quoted a source in the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) as
saying Evans is scheduled to appear before Justice Hakeem
Oshodi as the Attorney-General of Lagos state, Adeniji Kazeem,
will lead the prosecution team.
However, Olukoya Ogungbeje, the lawyer who filed a
fundamental rights enforcement suit on behalf of Evans against
the police at a federal court in Lagos, claimed he does not have
any information of the likely arraignment of Evans.

Evans was arrested in his Magodo Estate home in Lagos on June
10 by a special team led by Abba Kyari.
He will now likely be prosecuted according to the anti-kidnapping
laws of Lagos state and would be facing charges of armed
robbery, kidnapping and murder among others.
On Tuesday, David Igbodo, the lawyer to the police on the case
of fundamental against the law enforcement agency in relation
to Evans, said the investigation into his alleged crime was almost
concluded.
He said: “The case is a very controversial one, it is a sensitive
case.
“The Inspector-General of Police devoted time, efforts,
intelligence, and strategies to ensure that he was arrested. He
beat strategies for the past six years.
“When he was arrested, it took time for the police to complete
investigations and very soon, Nigerians will be made to know
what is the next line of action for Evans.”
He said as a lawyer, the IGP respects the rights of citizens.
“He has been organising conferences and seminars for the
Nigeria Police, both investigators and prosecutors, to make sure
nobody is kept in custody beyond 24 or 48 hours without an
order of a court of competent jurisdiction.
“The Inspector General of Police cannot keep Evans without a
court order, there is a valid court order that is still subsisting
as I speak with you for three months. You know Evans was
arrested on the 10th of June; since when he was arrested till
now, it’s not up to three months.
“But meanwhile investigations have almost been completed and
very soon Nigerians will be made to know what is the next line
of action in the case of Evans,” he said.
House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa , has hinted that alleged
notorious kidnapper, Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, better
known as Evans, may be prosecuted in the state.
The argument is that most of his alleged criminal activities were
carried out in Lagos state where he was also arrested in his
Magodo estate mansion.

woman
- He allegedly sold the child for the sum of N600,000
before he was caught
- He has been dismissed from Nigeria Police Force
while he awaits trial in court
A police corporal Uche Odoemena, popularly
known as Prince, has been arrested by officers
of the Nigeria Police Force Imo state command.
Unnamed sources told The Punch on Thursday,
January 19 that the police corporal, who is
currently held at the federal prisons, was
arrested in Okigwe and taken to Owerri on
Wednesday, January 18.

Police officer arrested for child trafficking

The unnamed sources also claimed that
Odoemena, who is married to a police sergeant
identified as Cynthia Odoemena attached to the
command headquarters in Owerri, was an
alleged habitual human trafficker.
The police officer had allegedly snatched a
newborn baby from a mother in Anambra state
at gunpoint and sold the child for N600,000.
Upon the nursing mother’s complaint, the
commissioner of police, who was enraged at the
development, had allegedly ordered that the
corporal be dismissed immediately and be
prosecuted accordingly.
At the time of filing its report, The Punch
reports that efforts made to get the reaction
from the command’s public relations officer
Andrew Enwerem proved abortive as he neither
picked the call put to his mobile phone number
nor responded to the text message Sent to him.
But another police source, who spoke on the
condition of anonymity, confirmed the incident.
He said that the police corporal had be
dismissed after being tried in the police orderly
room by the CP’s instruction and remanded at
federal prisons, Owerri, after he was arraigned
in court on Thursday morning by the police.
The police source said: “He has been dismissed after
the CP ordered that he be tried immediately in the
orderly room. He is no longer a police officer that is
why we can arraign him in court.”
The man, identified as Nuhu Adams who denied
the police's claims, stated that he is an
evangelist.
Parading the suspect, the Nasarawa state
commissioner of police Abubakar Bello said his
men received intelligence report that the

Nigerian 12-year-old creates
Location App to help lost children
January 18, 2017 • People, Top Stories, West Africa
It has not been the most positive of times in Nigeria
considering the current economic climate but every now
and then a story will pop up and lift the spirits of the
country. Tomisin Ogunnubi from Lagos has provided
such a story for her nation in Answers Africa.
The 12-year-old girl from Lagos has developed an app
to solve a problem which she had noticed in her
community. Tomisin finished up the development of her
Android mobile tracking app, My Location, just a few
weeks ago.
The motivation behind the app was to help lost children
find their way back home.
How it was developed:
Tomision developed her app under the guidence of an
Information and Communications Technology
partnership, between her school, Vivian Fowler
Memorial College for Girls, and New Horizons Computer
Learning Center. Here, Tomision was able to learn the
necessary skills and knowledge needed to develop her
app.
How it works:
The “current location”setting on the app enables the
child to see exactly where they are, as well as
highlighting the neighboring streets around them. The
other main functionality of the app will allow the child to
save a location such as their house or school and it will
direct them to their desired location.
The My Locator App also features a button, which when
pressed will alert the Lagos State Emergency Services.
The app will call the services as well as show the child’s
location so that they can be helped.
The app is available for free download in Lagos, Nigeria

When asked why the 36-year-old woman would
engage in such a public show, she immediately
blamed it on having too much alcohol she had
consumed during the day saying:
“ I wouldn’t do that with a sober mind we all know that,
I love my son as much as I love myself, I respect him
too and I’m proudly a ZCC church goer, I’m a respected
figure too at my church and my community, I would like
to take this moment to apologize for what happened, I
promise it won’t happen again.”
However, According to an affidavit, dated
10/01/2017, Number 5487952 submitted by the
offender at Durban police station, she was so
‘drunk’ and over excited.
It reads: “ We would like to thank the whistle-blower
who submitted the visual evidence to us, we would also
like to make sure that this shameless woman ‘faces the
music’ so that she sends a clear message to the
community and other ‘potential offenders.”
